Den blev oprindeligt bestilt af den kommercielle chef for Underground Electric Railways Company of London, nu kendt som London Underground, og den blev udviklet af og opkaldt efter Edward Johnston, der ofte omtales som den moderne kalligrafis fader.<\/p>\n<p>At runde et \u00e5rhundrede er selvf\u00f8lgelig en stor fejring v\u00e6rdig, og det inspirerede os p\u00e5 Solopress til at dele og diskutere vores viden om typografi internt (eller med andre ord, vi havde en sjov skrifttype-debat om det). Under vores samtaler spurgte vi os selv:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Hvad er Storbritanniens mest anerkendte skrifttype?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Det f\u00f8rte til et par mere h\u00f8jlydte diskussioner, og da venskaber pludselig stod p\u00e5 spil, besluttede vi at f\u00e5 et officielt svar.<\/p>\n<p>Ved hj\u00e6lp af en unders\u00f8gelse stillede vi 1.000 mennesker en r\u00e6kke skrifttype-relaterede sp\u00f8rgsm\u00e5l og kom frem til f\u00f8lgende afsl\u00f8ringer:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Arial er landets mest anerkendte skrifttype<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Uanset om det skyldes, at det er en af de f\u00f8rste skrifttyper i en Microsoft Word-dropdown-liste, eller om det er p\u00e5 grund af dens hjemlige udseende og appel, s\u00e5 er \u00e9n ting klar: Arial er Storbritanniens mest anerkendte skrifttype.<\/p>\n<p>Vores unders\u00f8gelse viste, at 33% af befolkningen genkendte den, og yderligere 55% valgte den som deres foretrukne skrifttype til de resterende sp\u00f8rgsm\u00e5l. Denne svimlende tilknytning til Arial g\u00f8r den derfor v\u00e6rdig til titlen som \"den mest genkendelige skrifttype\".<\/p>\n<p>Vi unders\u00f8gte ogs\u00e5 Johnston (selvf\u00f8lgelig) og Transport-skrifttypen - som bruges over hele landet til de fleste vejskilte. Vi forventede en stor anerkendelse af Transport, da den er en del af vores hverdag og praktisk talt er overalt, men hele 62% af folk identificerede den ikke korrekt.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Kun 23% af London-borgerne genkender Johnston-skrifttypen <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Vi opdagede, at kun 23% af London-borgerne faktisk genkendte <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Johnston_(typeface)\">London Underground-skrifttype<\/a>. Generelt var der kun f\u00e5 regioner, der kendte skrifttypen, og Skotland og Wales var efter London de mest sandsynlige regioner til at identificere den. S\u00e5 forh\u00e5bentlig kan vi efter de 100<sup>th<\/sup> \u00e5r vil anerkendelsen af denne skrifttype v\u00e6re stigende.<\/p>\n<p>I betragtning af, hvor vigtig denne skrifttype er for hovedstadens identitet, og at Transport for London angiver det \u00e5rlige passagertal til 1,34 milliarder, fandt vi, at 23%-statistikken var overraskende lav.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Vi stoler p\u00e5 Times New Roman <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Vi ville dog ikke kun vide noget om den mest genkendelige skrifttype. At finde landets mest p\u00e5lidelige skrifttype var ogs\u00e5 p\u00e5 dagsordenen.<\/p>\n<p>P\u00e5 trods af at Times New Roman har ry for kun at v\u00e6re beregnet til universitetsopgaver, blev den alligevel valgt som Storbritanniens mest p\u00e5lidelige skrifttype. Den tillid, vi har til Times New Roman, kan skyldes, at de fleste akademiske tidsskrifter bruger denne skrifttype, eller det kan skyldes en helt ubevidst \u00e5rsag, men ikke desto mindre har vi som nation st\u00f8rst tillid til Times New
