Urspr\u00fcnglich vom kaufm\u00e4nnischen Leiter der Underground Electric Railways Company of London, der heutigen London Underground, in Auftrag gegeben, wurde sie von Edward Johnston, der oft als Vater der modernen Kalligrafie bezeichnet wird, entwickelt und nach ihm benannt.<\/p>\n<p>Die Jahrhundertwende ist nat\u00fcrlich ein Grund zum Feiern, und sie hat uns bei Solopress dazu inspiriert, unser Wissen \u00fcber Typografie intern zu teilen und zu diskutieren (oder anders gesagt, wir haben eine lustige Schriftdebatte dar\u00fcber gef\u00fchrt). Bei unseren Gespr\u00e4chen haben wir uns gefragt:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Welches ist die bekannteste Schriftart Gro\u00dfbritanniens?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Dies f\u00fchrte zu einigen lauteren Diskussionen, und da pl\u00f6tzlich Freundschaften auf dem Spiel standen, beschlossen wir, eine offizielle Antwort zu erhalten.<\/p>\n<p>Im Rahmen einer Umfrage haben wir 1.000 Personen eine Reihe von Fragen zur Schriftart gestellt und sind zu folgenden Ergebnissen gekommen:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Arial ist die bekannteste Schriftart der Nation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Ob es nun daran liegt, dass sie eine der ersten Schriftarten in der Dropdown-Liste von Microsoft Word ist, oder an ihrem gem\u00fctlichen Aussehen und ihrer Attraktivit\u00e4t - eines ist klar: Arial ist die bekannteste Schriftart in Gro\u00dfbritannien.<\/p>\n<p>Unsere Umfrage ergab, dass 33% der Befragten sie wiedererkannten, und weitere 55% w\u00e4hlten sie als ihre bevorzugte Schriftart f\u00fcr die restlichen Fragen. Diese \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigende Assoziation mit der Arial macht sie also w\u00fcrdig f\u00fcr den Titel der \"bekanntesten Schriftart\".<\/p>\n<p>Wir untersuchten auch Johnston (nat\u00fcrlich) und die Schriftart Transport, die landesweit f\u00fcr die meisten Stra\u00dfenschilder verwendet wird. Wir erwarteten einen hohen Bekanntheitsgrad der Transport-Schrift, da sie zu unserem Alltag geh\u00f6rt und praktisch \u00fcberall zu finden ist, aber ein Gro\u00dfteil der 62%-Benutzer erkannte sie nicht richtig.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Nur 23% der Londoner erkennen die Schriftart Johnston <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Wir haben herausgefunden, dass nur 23% der Londoner tats\u00e4chlich die <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Johnston_(typeface)\">Schriftart London Underground<\/a>. Insgesamt kannten nur wenige Regionen die Schriftart, wobei Schottland und Wales nach London am ehesten in der Lage waren, sie zu erkennen. So bleibt zu hoffen, dass nach den 100<sup>th<\/sup> Jahrestag, wird die Anerkennung dieser Schriftart zunehmen.<\/p>\n<p>Wenn man bedenkt, wie wichtig diese Schrift f\u00fcr die Identit\u00e4t der Hauptstadt ist und dass Transport for London die j\u00e4hrlichen Fahrgastzahlen mit 1,34 Milliarden angibt, fanden wir die Zahl 23% \u00fcberraschend niedrig.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Wir setzen auf Times New Roman <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Wir wollten aber nicht nur wissen, welche Schriftart am bekanntesten ist. Es ging auch darum, die vertrauensw\u00fcrdigste Schriftart der Nation zu finden.<\/p>\n<p>Obwohl die Times New Roman den Ruf hat, nur f\u00fcr Kursarbeiten an Universit\u00e4ten geeignet zu sein, wurde sie dennoch zur vertrauensw\u00fcrdigsten Schriftart im Vereinigten K\u00f6nigreich gew\u00e4hlt.
