Ze zijn onmiddellijk herkenbaar en zijn een integraal onderdeel geworden van sms'en en berichten versturen via sociale media; maar heb je de betekenissen van deze emoji verkeerd ge\u00efnterpreteerd?<\/em><\/h3>\n

Emoji's zijn de laatste tijd het gesprek van de dag op internet, van het nagaan wat de makers er eigenlijk mee bedoelden tot de roep om meer raciale afbeeldingen van de veelgebruikte emoticons. Hier zijn er een paar die vaak verkeerd begrepen worden, met uitleg over wat hun oorspronkelijke betekenis was.<\/p>\n

De grimas<\/h2>\n

Hoewel deze emoji vaak wordt gebruikt als een grote smiley, was het bedoeld als een uitdrukking van grimassen. Tinten van angst kunnen er ook mee worden ge\u00efnterpreteerd.<\/p>\n

De fluit<\/h2>\n

Met samengeknepen lippen wordt vaak gedacht dat dit mannetje een kusgezichtje is. In feite is het een persoon die op een minder onschuldige manier fluit. Het zou bijvoorbeeld de tekst \"Nee, ik heb geen idee wat er met je Kit Kat\/laatste stuk pizza is gebeurd.\" kunnen vergezellen.<\/p>\n

De overbelasting<\/h2>\n

Er wordt vaak gedacht dat deze emoji staat voor \"stomende gek\", maar bronnen zeggen dat deze emoji \"triomf\" betekent. Gebruik hem als je hard werkt voor een prestatie, zoals meer tijd in de sportschool of studeren om een groot examen te halen.<\/p>\n

De biddende handen<\/h2>\n

In de westerse cultuur worden deze plat tegen elkaar geplaatste handen meestal gezien als een symbool van gebed. Anderen interpreteren ze als een high five. De makers van de emoji hebben echter verklaard dat ze in hun geboorteland Japan respect symboliseren, waardoor ze een passende begeleiding zijn bij het zeggen van \"alsjeblieft\" of \"dank je wel\".<\/p>\n

Het is niet alleen een decoratief item om je berichten er wat \"chiquer\" uit te laten zien. Samen met andere weer-gerelateerde emoji's stelt deze werveling eigenlijk een cycloon voor.<\/p>\n

De konijnenmeisjes<\/h2>\n

Het wordt gebruikt om alles weer te geven, van \"feesttijd\" tot \"aerobicsles\" wanneer een bericht een gevoel van jubel uitstraalt. Maar dit paar meisjes met mysterieuze konijnachtige oren is bedoeld om \"showgirls\" te symboliseren voor elke situatie waarin een vrouw wordt betaald om te zingen, dansen en entertainen.<\/p>\n

Het onge\u00efdentificeerde voedsel<\/h2>\n

Het ziet er mysterieus uit - is het vlees? Dit stuk voedsel is eigenlijk de emoji afbeelding van supergezonde gepofte zoete aardappel. Ongebruikelijk in de westerse cultuur, maar heel gewoon in Japan.<\/p>\n

De Sundae<\/h2>\n

Nogmaals, door een culturele misinterpretatie zien wij dit als een ijstraktatie. Het is echter vergelijkbaar; het is een traktatie van geschaafd ijs en siroop die in Japan bekend staat als kakigori.<\/p>\n

Wat de werkelijke betekenis van de emoji ook mag zijn, waar het echt om gaat is dat je de bedoeling erachter kunt begrijpen. Als je snapt dat als je vriendin je de emoticon \"triomf\" stuurt, ze eigenlijk bedoelt dat ze razend is, dan is dat goed genoeg!
