In het hart van Londen, tussen het Great Ormond St Hospital en King's Cross, ligt Coram's Fields. Dit lommerrijke park met speeltuin vormt een welkom contrast met de drukke straten in de stad en is een heerlijke plek voor kinderen om actief te zijn. Het is ook de thuisbasis van de liefdadigheidsinstelling Coram's Fields, die kinderen en hun families de broodnodige steun biedt.<\/p>\n

Alia Bokhary en haar twee jonge kinderen, Oliver en Cara, die allemaal graag in het park en de speeltuin komen, hebben het plan opgevat om de Little Library in Coram's Fields te bouwen. Ze raakten ge\u00efnspireerd nadat ze elders een soortgelijk project hadden gezien. Volgens Alia:<\/p>\n

\"Eind 2022 kwamen we een kleine gratis bibliotheek tegen en we vonden de boekenruil met zijn hartverwarmende 'neem er een, deel er een'-concept geweldig.\"<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Deze ontmoeting leidde ertoe dat ze het initiatief namen en hun eigen personages inschakelden om de Kleine Bibliotheek in Coram's Fields te helpen oprichten.<\/p>\n

Een juweeltje voor de gemeenschap in het hart van Londen<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Het concept is eenvoudig: een plek cre\u00ebren waar kinderen en hun familie een boek kunnen komen lenen om te lezen en een ander boek in de plaats kunnen achterlaten, als ze daartoe in staat zijn. Het is een prachtig idee, geboren uit vriendelijkheid en vrijgevigheid, dat inspeelt op de kracht van de gemeenschap en onze gedeelde liefde voor lezen. Om de droom werkelijkheid te laten worden, was er echter een lijst met praktische zaken die ze moesten aanpakken.<\/p>\n

Het verhaal tot leven brengen<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Alia en haar familie realiseerden zich al snel dat ze een paar hindernissen moesten nemen voordat de Kleine Bibliotheek tot leven kon komen. Ze hadden hun locatie nodig en toestemming om daar te beginnen. Ze hadden een voorraad boeken nodig om de bal aan het rollen te brengen. De Kleine Bibliotheek zelf zou ontworpen en gebouwd moeten worden. En ze zouden bewegwijzering nodig hebben om de bibliotheek een identiteit te geven en bezoekers te laten weten wat ze er kunnen doen.<\/p>\n

Gelukkig was het oplossen van het locatieprobleem geen probleem. Coram's Fields was de perfecte plek voor het project en de liefdadigheidsinstelling die het park beheert, omarmde het idee van harte. Maar toen moest het harde werk om de bibliotheek te realiseren echt beginnen.<\/p>\n

De reis van de held<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"Jonge<\/a><\/p>\n

Alia begon met het benaderen van individuen en organisaties die ze iets te bieden had. De respons was bemoedigend. Al snel had Alia een indrukwekkende lijst met donateurs verzameld:<\/p>\n

\"We zijn gaan uitzoeken wie ons zou kunnen helpen en zijn zo bemoedigd en overweldigd door de vrijgevigheid van de vele donateurs van het project.\"<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Bekende illustrator Allen Fatimaharan<\/a> ontwierp het logo van de kleine bibliotheek, terwijl Gerrish Ontwerp<\/a> zagen aan de bewegwijzering. Paul Godbolt en Anna O'Flaherty van Richmond upon Thames College zorgden samen met een team van hun studenten voor het ontwerp en de bouw van de bibliotheek zelf, waarbij ze architectonische details zoals de kolommen en het schuine dak van structuren in het park integreerden, zodat het precies paste in Coram's Fields.<\/p>\n

Attic Self Storage in King's Cross bood gratis opslagruimte aan, terwijl een heleboel uitgevers en winkeliers het leesmateriaal beschikbaar stelden, waaronder Walker Books, World of Books, Harper Collins, Bettterworldbooks en Acorn Book Club. Kinderboekenschrijfster Cate Douglas droeg zelfs gesigneerde exemplaren bij. Toen alle puzzelstukjes op hun plaats vielen, kon de bibliotheek eindelijk haar deuren, of misschien wel ramen, openen voor het publiek.<\/p>\n

Solopress invoeren<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Op dit punt in het verhaal leidde een toevallige ontmoeting op een beurs tot de betrokkenheid van Solopress. Volgens Alia:<\/p>\n

\"Ik ontmoette Glen tijdens The London Stationery Show, waar ik vrijwilligerswerk deed voor een ander fantastisch goed doel. We hadden een leuk gesprek en toen ik nadacht over een bedrijf dat zou kunnen helpen met stickers en boekenleggers, schoot Solopress me meteen te binnen. \"<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Alia had Glen Eckett ontmoet, hoofd marketing hier bij Solopress, die ge\u00efnspireerd was geraakt door het verhaal van de Little Library. Glen was het ermee eens dat stickers en boekenleggers de perfecte drukproducten zouden zijn om de boeken te begeleiden en de boodschap van de bibliotheek te verspreiden. We begonnen met het ontwerpen en drukken van de artikelen en we zijn er trots op te kunnen zeggen dat Alia de samenwerking met Solopress als zeer prettig heeft ervaren:<\/p>\n

\"Het team van Solopress is zeer professioneel, vriendelijk en reageert snel en ik ben erg blij met de service en de kwaliteit van het product.\"<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We kunnen gerust zeggen dat de print die we konden leveren goed aansloeg bij Coram's Fields:<\/p>\n

\" Ik heb veel gezinnen zien genieten van de bibliotheek en het is prachtig om te zien hoe blij de kinderen zijn als ze de extra verrassing van de mooie boekenlegger vinden.\"<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
