Onlangs produceerden we <\/span>Leuke rijmpjes voor de tafels!<\/span><\/i>, is een zelfgepubliceerd educatief boek, ontwikkeld door voormalig basisschoollerares Helen Eaton. Het boek is gebaseerd op jarenlange ervaring in de klas, als mentor en in het geven van advies, en behandelt veelvoorkomende problemen rond het oproepen van de tafel op een manier die vertrouwen wekt bij jonge leerlingen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Van het klaslokaal naar een probleem dat het oplossen waard is<\/b><\/h3>\n

Helen Eaton heeft jarenlang gewerkt als onderwijzeres, tutor en onderwijsconsultant in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Het was duidelijk dat de meeste kinderen bepaalde tafels lastig vonden.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIk merkte dat veel kinderen de vermenigvuldiging conceptueel begrepen, maar moeite hadden om de moeilijkste tafels correct op te roepen,\u201d legt Helen uit. \u201cZe wisten wat ze deden, maar bepaalde tafels bleven gewoon niet hangen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In plaats van dit te zien als een gebrek aan aanleg, zag Helen het als een tekortkoming van traditionele benaderingen die geen rekening houden met verschillende leerstijlen. Terwijl rote-learning en herhaling voor sommige leerlingen werken, raken anderen er ontmoedigd en niet bij betrokken.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDie frustratie kan het zelfvertrouwen een flinke knauw geven\u201d, zegt ze. \u201cAls een kind eenmaal denkt dat het \u2018slecht is in wiskunde\u2019, wordt het veel moeilijker om het vooruit te helpen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

De manier waarop tafels worden onderwezen heroverwegen<\/b><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>Helen begon alternatieve manieren te ontwikkelen om het herinneren te ondersteunen, waarbij ze putte uit haar ervaringen in de klas en uit wat ze in de praktijk zag werken.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMijn aanpak moest speels, gedenkwaardig en geruststellend zijn,\u201d zegt ze. \u201cIets dat kinderen tegemoet kwam waar ze waren, in plaats van ze door oefeningen te duwen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Het resultaat was <\/span>Leuke rijmpjes voor de tafels!<\/span><\/i> Een multisensorisch hulpmiddel dat korte verhaalrijmpjes, geheugenhaakjes en visuele ondersteuning combineert. Elke tafel wordt versterkt met hulpmiddelen die kinderen al herkennen uit de klas, zoals rekenrijtjes en staafmodellen.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIk wilde dat het boek kinderen zou helpen de tafels te onthouden die ze het moeilijkst vinden,\u201d legt Helen uit. \u201cMaar net zo belangrijk, ik wilde dat het hen zou helpen zich zelfverzekerder te voelen terwijl ze het doen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Schrijven en vormgeven van de inhoud<\/b><\/h3>\n

Toen het concept eenmaal duidelijk was, begon Helen de idee\u00ebn voor de klas om te zetten in een gestructureerd boek.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHet ging erom te vertalen wat werkte tijdens de bijlessen naar iets wat een kind zelfstandig kon gebruiken\u201d, zegt ze. \u201cDe taal moest vriendelijk zijn, de beelden duidelijk en de progressie logisch.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Zelf uitgeven via haar bedrijf<\/span>\u00a0Eaton Consultancy Ltd, <\/a>Helen wilde graag volledig eigenaar blijven van het werk en verkocht het boek via haar eigen Opvouwbaar plezier online winkel.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMijn overleden opa zei altijd: \u2018Als je ergens trots op bent, moet je je naam erop zetten,\u2019\u201d zegt ze. \u201cDus dat heb ik gedaan.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Kiezen hoe het boek wordt gedrukt en gebonden<\/b><\/h3>\n

Toen de inhoud klaar was, was de volgende stap het vinden van een printer die een professionele afwerking kon leveren zonder in te leveren op kleur of helderheid.<\/span><\/p>\n

Helen koos Solopress voor de productie van haar paperbackboeken.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDe afdrukkwaliteit is uitzonderlijk\u201d, zegt ze. \u201cIk was echt onder de indruk van hoe levendig de kleuren eruit zien en de algehele afwerking.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
