Originalmente encomendada pelo Diretor Comercial da Underground Electric Railways Company of London, atualmente conhecida como London Underground, foi desenvolvida por Edward Johnston, frequentemente referido como o pai da caligrafia moderna, e recebeu o seu nome.<\/p>\n<p>Fazer um s\u00e9culo \u00e9, naturalmente, digno de uma grande celebra\u00e7\u00e3o, e inspirou-nos na Solopress a partilhar e discutir internamente os nossos conhecimentos sobre tipografia (ou, por outras palavras, tivemos um divertido debate sobre fontes). Durante as nossas conversas, pergunt\u00e1mo-nos:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Qual \u00e9 o tipo de letra mais reconhecido do Reino Unido?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Isto levou a algumas discuss\u00f5es mais acaloradas e, com amizades subitamente em risco, decidimos obter uma resposta oficial.<\/p>\n<p>Atrav\u00e9s de um inqu\u00e9rito, coloc\u00e1mos a 1000 pessoas uma s\u00e9rie de quest\u00f5es relacionadas com os tipos de letra e fizemos as seguintes revela\u00e7\u00f5es:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Arial \u00e9 o tipo de letra mais conhecido do pa\u00eds<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Quer seja devido ao facto de ser um dos primeiros tipos de letra numa lista pendente do Microsoft Word, quer seja devido ao seu aspeto caseiro e atraente, uma coisa \u00e9 certa: Arial \u00e9 o tipo de letra mais reconhecido do Reino Unido.<\/p>\n<p>O nosso inqu\u00e9rito revelou que 33% das pessoas a reconheceram, e outras 55% seleccionaram-na como a sua resposta de tipo de letra preferida para as restantes perguntas. Esta associa\u00e7\u00e3o impressionante com a Arial torna-a, portanto, digna do t\u00edtulo de \"tipo de letra mais reconhecido\".<\/p>\n<p>Tamb\u00e9m analis\u00e1mos o Johnston (claro) e o tipo de letra Transport - que \u00e9 utilizado em todo o pa\u00eds na maior parte da sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o rodovi\u00e1ria. Esper\u00e1vamos um elevado reconhecimento do tipo Transport, uma vez que faz parte do nosso quotidiano e est\u00e1 praticamente em todo o lado, mas uma grande percentagem de 62% de pessoas n\u00e3o o identificou corretamente.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Apenas 23% dos londrinos reconhecem o tipo de letra Johnston <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Descobrimos que apenas 23% dos londrinos reconheciam efetivamente o <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Johnston_(typeface)\">Tipo de letra do metro de Londres<\/a>. Em geral, poucas regi\u00f5es conheciam o tipo de letra, sendo a Esc\u00f3cia e o Pa\u00eds de Gales, a seguir a Londres, as regi\u00f5es com maior probabilidade de o identificar. Assim, esperamos que, ap\u00f3s os 100<sup>th<\/sup> o reconhecimento deste tipo de letra estar\u00e1 em alta.<\/p>\n<p>Tendo em conta a import\u00e2ncia deste tipo de letra para a identidade da capital e o facto de a Transport for London indicar que o n\u00famero anual de passageiros \u00e9 de 1,34 mil milh\u00f5es, consider\u00e1mos que a estat\u00edstica 23% \u00e9 surpreendentemente baixa.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Em Times New Roman confiamos <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Mas n\u00e3o quer\u00edamos apenas saber qual era o tipo de letra mais conhecido. Encontrar o tipo de letra mais fi\u00e1vel do pa\u00eds tamb\u00e9m estava na ordem do dia.<\/p>\n<p>Apesar de a Times New Roman ter a reputa\u00e7\u00e3o de ser utilizada apenas em trabalhos de curso universit\u00e1rios, foi escolhida como o tipo de letra mais fi\u00e1vel do Reino Unido. A confian\u00e7a que temos na Times New Roman pode dever-se ao facto de a maior parte das revistas acad\u00e9micas utilizarem este tipo de letra, ou pode dever-se a uma raz\u00e3o completamente subconsciente, mas, mesmo assim, n\u00f3s, enquanto na\u00e7\u00e3o, temos a maior confian\u00e7a na Times New
