A digital upgrade: Solopress invests in two new HP Indigo 10000 digital presses

Solopress has no fewer than 7 Xerox iGen digital print presses. So why the need for yet more digital print capacity?

According to Solopress Managing Director Simon Cooper, “One of the advantages that the Indigo presses will give us is that they print on B2 sheets, twice the size of the oversized A3 sheets that the iGen’s use. This means that we’ll be able to produce a lot more work in a shorter period of time through one print engine, making us more efficient.

“In addition, a lot of our finishing equipment is geared up for B2 sheets as that’s the size we produce our litho print in.”

Which products will we print on these machines?

We can produce pretty much everything we print digitally onto paper using the HP Indigo 10000s. That includes flyers & leafletsbusiness cardsbrochures & booklets and more.

What does this mean for our customers?

The acquisition of these two new presses will provide several benefits to our customers. These include:

  • Low prices. Increased efficiency will enable us to keep prices low on digital printed products.
  • High quality. The print quality of the HP Indigo is market-leading, allowing us to maintain and improve on our high standards.
  • Fast delivery. By printing more jobs over a shorter period – and in a format better suited for our finishing setup – we can offer next day delivery across an even wider range of products.

The technical bit…

The main features that the HP Indigo 10000’s will bring to Solopress include:

  • Print speeds of up to 4,600 sheets per hour.
  • Print quality of up to 2438 X 2438 dpi HDI (High Definition Imaging).
  • Paper handling of 80-400gsm and a maximum size of 750 x 530 mm.
  • Up to 7 ink stations for the extended colour gamut, including HP Indigo ElectroInk White and other special effect inks.

The bigger picture

The acquisition of these two machines is part of a wider investment that has included the purchase of a Kongsberg C Edge cutting table and two new Agfa Anapurna wide-format presses. This major expansion of our print capabilities which was covered in Print Week back in May, equips us to cope with increasing demand and ensure that we continue to offer quality print at low prices to our customers, regardless of quantity.
