Please make sure to <strong><a title=\"Subscribe to Solopress on YouTube\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/solopress?sub_confirmation=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener noreferrer\">subscribe<\/a><\/strong> to the Solopress YouTube channel so you don\u2019t miss out on future guides!<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"0GKTU-lhH1I\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How To Design A Poster In Photoshop | Design Tutorial\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0GKTU-lhH1I?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h2>How To Design A Poster<\/h2>\n<p>Head to the Solopress website (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/\">\u202awww.solopress.com<\/a>) to download the free Photoshop Poster A0 template guide as a base for your poster.<\/p>\n<p>Open the Photoshop file, we have created a guide layer that will help you design your wedding invitation &#8211; this includes the bleed area, trim and safe area.<\/p>\n<p>Bleed Area &#8211; Anything here will be trimmed off, but remember to extend any colouring or images into this 3mm bleed area to avoid white lines appearing during the print finishing stages.<\/p>\n<p>Trim &#8211; Your job will be cut on the solid black line, any images or text placed in this 3mm area may be trimmed off incorrectly.<\/p>\n<p>Safe Area &#8211; Keep all your information insides the white area. Remember to use high-resolution images (300dpi) for the best results.<\/p>\n<p>Create a new guide by clicking and dragging on the vertical and horizontal Ruler (if your Ruler does not appear in Photoshop press Command + R).<\/p>\n<p>Create 4 new guides on the safe area line. In this video I have created 2 lines that run through the centre vertically and horizontally, you can set these to the exact measurement by clicking View &#8211; New Guide then entering 420.5mm for vertical and 594.5mm for horizontal.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18786 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/1.png\" alt=\"1\" width=\"650\" height=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Let\u2019s get started!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now you\u2019ve got your guides in place, we can now get started on the background. To make a solid colour background click Layers-New Fill Layer-Solid Colour. In this demonstration I\u2019m using a fill colour instead of an image or pattern because I am going to add shapes to give it depth.<\/p>\n<p>I now start adding my shapes by dragging in the images from my folder, When you drag in an image, you will instantly have access to scale, rotate and flip the image. If you want to change any of those options after the image has been placed, select the layer and click Edit \u2013 Transform. I place my lines image and I want to copy it to make a pattern. To copy an image, right click the layer and select Duplicate Layer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18788 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/3.png\" alt=\"3\" width=\"650\" height=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When adding my chevron pattern image, I changed the colour of the image. To do this, right click the layer and select Blending Options. You can overlay solid colours, gradients and patterns in this window, as well as add strokes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/tutorials\/how-to-add-a-drop-shadow-in-photoshop\/\">drop shadows<\/a> and change the layer\u2019s opacity.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18787 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2.png\" alt=\"2\" width=\"650\" height=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now it\u2019s time to add text, to do so select the Text Tool in the side bar, click anywhere on your project and start typing. You can change font, size, line spacing and more options using the Character Panel, which is accessible on the basic text option bar at the top. You can scale (I wouldn\u2019t recommend, change the font size instead), rotate, flip etc. using the Edit \u2013 Transform function I mentioned earlier.<\/p>\n<p>After all of my text and images are in place, I want to add bars for my header and footer. I used the Rectangle Tool in the side bar to draw out the shape I needed.
