Here, I have used a <strong>3000 x 3000 px<\/strong>\u00a0document at 300dpi. Place your image of choice on top of the\u00a0<strong>Background<\/strong>\u00a0layer &#8211; for clarity we renamed this layer \u201c<strong>Flowers\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-09.42.49.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33257\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-09.42.49.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"567\" height=\"567\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Duplicate the\u00a0<strong>Flowers<\/strong>\u00a0layer and add layer mask. To do this, right click the layer and select duplicate, and then click the\u00a0<strong>Add layer mask<\/strong>\u00a0icon at the bottom of the\u00a0<strong>Layers<\/strong>\u00a0panel.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure that the layer mask thumbnail is selected, and fill it with <strong>Black\u00a0<\/strong>(Alternatively, you can invert the layer mask using Command\/Ctrl + i).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-09.46.05.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33259\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-09.46.05.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"565\" height=\"565\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Create the Text<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Create the text using any font and colour of your choice &#8211; here I have opted for white text, using the font Cocogoose. Personally, I think the bigger and bolder the text the better, but it all depends on what outcome you are looking for.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong><br \/>\nGroup the text layers you have and call the group\u00a0<strong>Text<\/strong>. Then, place that group between the two\u00a0<strong>Flowers<\/strong>\u00a0layers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-09.47.51.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33260\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-09.47.51.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"588\" height=\"587\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lower the\u00a0<strong>Opacity<\/strong>\u00a0of the\u00a0<strong>Text<\/strong>\u00a0layer, so that you are able\u00a0to see both the text and the background image details clearly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-09.48.412.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33261\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-09.48.412.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"425\" height=\"447\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Paint the Front Floral Parts<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Make sure that your foreground colour is set to white and background colour set to black. To adjust these colours, simply click on their respective boxes and select the desired colour.<\/p>\n<p>Pick the\u00a0<strong>Brush Tool (B)<\/strong>, set the\u00a0<strong>Foreground Colour<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0White, and pick a hard round brush tip. I usually have the hardness set to around 80% &#8211; 95%.<\/p>\n<p>Click the\u00a0<strong>Flowers copy<\/strong>\u00a0layer mask&#8217;s thumbnail to select it, and then start painting over the parts you want to have in front of the text.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-09.51.552.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33263\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-09.51.552.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"483\" height=\"499\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have accidentally made a mistake, you can simply unpaint the desired area, you just need to set the\u00a0<strong>Foreground Colour<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0black\u00a0and unpaint those areas.<\/p>\n<p>Use the\u00a0<strong>X<\/strong>\u00a0key to switch between the\u00a0<strong>Foreground<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Background<\/strong> colours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;re done, set the\u00a0<strong>Text<\/strong>\u00a0group&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Opacity<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>100%<\/strong>\u00a0again, and check how everything looks to see if you like it. If there are any bits you missed, simply repeat the process above.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Create the Shadow<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Command-click<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>Flowers copy<\/strong>\u00a0layer mask&#8217;s thumbnail to create a selection.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-10.10.502.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33264\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-10.10.502.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"477\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Create a new layer on top of the\u00a0<strong>Text<\/strong>\u00a0group, and call it\u00a0<strong>Shadow<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Pick the\u00a0<strong>Paint Bucket Tool<\/strong>, uncheck the\u00a0<strong>Contiguous<\/strong>\u00a0box in the\u00a0<strong>Options<\/strong>\u00a0bar, and fill the selection with black.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Right-click<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>Shadow<\/strong>\u00a0layer and choose\u00a0<strong>Convert to Smart Object<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-10.03.532.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33265\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-10.03.532.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"489\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Go to\u00a0<strong>Filter &gt; Blur &gt; Gaussian Blur<\/strong>, and set the\u00a0<strong>Radius<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>7<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-10.12.222.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33266\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-10.12.222.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"508\" height=\"474\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Use the\u00a0<strong>Move Tool<\/strong>\u00a0to nudge the shadows slightly downward.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll notice the shadow appearing randomly in some of the erased parts. To fix this, you need to paint those parts in (un-erase them).<\/p>\n<p>So pick the\u00a0<strong>Brush Tool<\/strong>, select the\u00a0<strong>Flowers copy<\/strong>\u00a0layer mask, set the\u00a0<strong>Foreground Colour<\/strong>\u00a0to white, and paint over the parts you want, to cover the\u00a0shadow.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-10.16.562.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33267\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-10.16.562.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"514\" height=\"479\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;re done, change the\u00a0<strong>Shadow<\/strong>\u00a0layer&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Blend Mode<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>Multiply<\/strong>\u00a0and its\u00a0<strong>Opacity<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>50%<\/strong>. Experiment with different opacities here to get the best result for your image.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Remove the White Background<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pick the\u00a0<strong>Magic Wand Tool<\/strong>, uncheck the\u00a0<strong>Contiguous<\/strong>\u00a0box in the\u00a0<strong>Options<\/strong>\u00a0bar, and then click the white area to select it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Go to\u00a0<strong>Select &gt; Inverse<\/strong>, and add a layer mask to hide the white background.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Select the white area again (the empty part now on the\u00a0<strong>Flowers<\/strong>\u00a0image), then click the\u00a0<strong>Flowers copy<\/strong>\u00a0mask, and fill the selection with Black.<\/p>\n<p>Go to\u00a0<strong>Select &gt; Deselect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-10.21.262.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33268\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-10.21.262.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"568\" height=\"529\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Add the Background Gradient Fill<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Duplicate the\u00a0<strong>Background<\/strong>\u00a0layer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Double-click<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>Background copy<\/strong>\u00a0layer to apply a\u00a0<strong>Gradient Overlay<\/strong>\u00a0effect with these settings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check the\u00a0<strong>Dither<\/strong>\u00a0box<\/li>\n<li><strong>Opacity:<\/strong> 30%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Style:\u00a0<\/strong>Radial<\/li>\n<li><strong>Scale:\u00a0<\/strong>150%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Use any gradient fill you like.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-13.14.03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33269\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-19-at-13.14.03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"541\" height=\"504\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Add the Texture and a Final Adjustment Layer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Place the\u00a0<strong>Paper Grain Texture<\/strong>\u00a0image on top of all layers, and resize it as you like. Then change its layer&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Blend Mode<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>Multiply<\/strong>\u00a0and its\u00a0<strong>Opacity<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>50%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Congratulations!
