It\u2019s redesigning your logo, changing your colours, picking a different font and reflecting this in your promotional assets.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>We\u2019ve teamed up with two branding experts to provide you with the actionable steps to create a new visual identity for your company.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandnu.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Radim Malinic (opens in a new tab)\">Radim Malinic<\/a><\/strong> is an award-winning freelance creative director and graphic designer, based in London. He\u2019ll be offering tips alongside <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/adri.mdx.ac.uk.contentcurator.net\/phil-cleaver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Phil Cleaver, (opens in a new tab)\">Phil Cleaver<\/a><\/strong>, Professor in Creative Industries at the School of Art and Design at Middlesex University.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who are you?<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Before you do anything, define who you are as a business. This is essential to the rebranding process, as it informs the image you want to put across to your customers.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>All businesses are customer-centric, aiming to give value for money and provide a useful product or service. But to make your rebranding personal to your company, ask yourself a few questions:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Who are your audience?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Your client base and target audience are the lifeblood of your business. It makes sense to keep them in mind when rebranding, as they\u2019re primarily why you\u2019re doing it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Ask yourself what they would be most receptive to and appreciate from your brand revamp.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Phil believes elements such as logos are crucial in the effectiveness of a company\u2019s branding: \u201cThe symbol must perform successfully against a set of listed qualities to gain them the audience they need,\u201d he says. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>What is your industry?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Certain branding elements suit certain industries. To differentiate yourself from other operators within your market, look at what they\u2019re doing with their branding first.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Radim explains: \u201cThere\u2019s weekly news of brand refreshes from the top companies, as they do all they can to stay relevant.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Be aware of your industry standards for branding and try to cultivate your own personality to set you apart.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>How do you want your brand to be portrayed?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Consider how you want your brand to look. What emotions do you want people to feel when they engage with you: Trust? Reliability? Innovation?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Your rebrand should reflect your deepest ideals and beliefs as an organisation. Phil uses the example of when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/politics-rebranded\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"political parties rebrand (opens in a new tab)\">political parties rebrand<\/a> \u00a0in order to alter people\u2019s perceptions of them. He suggests: \u201cInvesting in a design that can last many years is, first and foremost, a true visual expression of their ideas and beliefs.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What do you offer?<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Identify and analyse your USPs and use your branding to show what makes you stand out from your competitors. Phil explains: \u201cIn a crowded marketplace of brands, people place high value on perceived authenticity. \u201cThe design of a brand is a thoughtful process that should present your projected qualities in an accessible visual form.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>What are you good at?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Is your customer service second to none? How about your product? Do you fulfil your customers\u2019 needs every time?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Portraying your strengths in your branding reinforces your positive attributes in your customers\u2019 minds. Radim urges you to take a lesson from emerging businesses: \u201cMany new successful startups are design-led \u2013 they all put their DNA on show,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Putting it into practice<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Phil and Radim offer expert advice on specific areas of a rebrand: logo, brand colours and typography.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Logo<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cNothing feels as distinct as a well-designed symbol and this is a fact many brands are realising,\u201d says Phil. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Simplicity is often key. A prime example is Mastercard\u2019s recent rebrand. The company has removed all wording from its logo to leave the two intersecting circles.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cWhen a brand has a mark that so successfully represents them\u2026 no further context is needed\u201d.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Brand colours<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cIntroducing colour harmonies and upping the vibrancy of colour means you can gain uplift in energy and appeal,\u201d says Radim.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Business rebrands are all about reinvigorating a company and revitalising interest in it. Selecting the right colours can help.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cBe bold, bright, direct, friendly and engaging,\u201d adds Radim.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Typography<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cMuch like the symbol, the typeface should be\u2026 assessed against the projected qualities of the brand.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Phil suggests that when rebranding, select your typography according to how you want your company image to be reflected.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cVisual identities in more recent years have relied heavily on the typography to carry their brand,\u201d Phil adds. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once your rebrand is underway, Solopress can help with the visual assets you\u2019ll need \u2013 from business cards to letterheads.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rebranding your business is about more than writing a new mission statement.
