Nowadays, these boards are seldom seen without a URL, #hashtag or Twitter handle printed at the bottom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may not be in the market for a saucy seaside cut-out, but the principle is simple and effective: create an irresistible photo opportunity and incorporate an element that allows you to promote your business in some way.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Now with wings<\/b><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_71720\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71720\" style=\"width: 305px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Taylor.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-71720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Taylor.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"381\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-71720\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Taylor Swift \/ Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fuelled by Taylor Swift appearing on Instagram in front of a piece by Kelsey Montague, the trend for butterfly or angel wings started in the world of graffiti art before making the inevitable transition into the world of venues and retailers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Taylor Swift post, you can see that @KelseyMontagueArt has signed the piece at the bottom left. In many examples, the space between the upper portion of the wings is often used to place logos, URLs, hashtags etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s now a common trope in Instagrammable installations at locations all over the world. Another great example is from Artist Paul Curtis, whose Liver Bird wings on Jamaica Street in Liverpool\u2019s Baltic Triangle is what the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/best-selfies-far-baltic-triangle-13482299\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Liverpool Echo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> calls \u201cone of the most &#8220;Instagrammable&#8221; spots in the city.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_71721\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71721\" style=\"width: 900px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Liver1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-71721 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Liver1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"674\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-71721\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Artist Paul Curtis in front of his own work. Photo: Liverpool Echo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re not quite bold enough to take a spray can to your walls, a printed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/vinyl-banners\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vinyl Banner<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/roller-banners\/wide\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Extra Wide Roller Banner<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can provide a non-permanent and portable solution.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>But is it art?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The line between art installation and Instagram photo op has certainly blurred. This picture from Katie Perry\u2019s Instagram of the singer inside a piece called \u201cInfinity Mirrors\u201d by the artist Yayoi Kusama surely represents the point where the two worlds collide.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_71723\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71723\" style=\"width: 900px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Katy-Perry.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-71723 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Katy-Perry.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Katy Perry \/ Instagram\" width=\"900\" height=\"674\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-71723\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Katy Perry \/ Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2><strong>Pop-up experiences and content playgrounds!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For Instagramers with less celebrity clout than Ms Perry, \u2018Pop-up Experiences\u2019 are allowing would-be influencers the chance to liven up their feeds by photographing and filming themselves in striking environments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">London\u2019s O2 Arena currently hosts both <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/selfiefactory.co.uk\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selfie Factory<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/selfiefactory.co.uk\/tikkytown\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tikky Town<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Selfie Factory describes itself as an \u201cInstagram inspired funhouse\u201d while Tikky Town is geared more towards the bitesize video platform Tik Tok, and billed as a \u201ccontent playground for big kids.\u201d Both venues are full of colourful sets, props and spaces that help users create the kind of impressive content you\u2019d expect to see from a professional studio.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_71724\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71724\" style=\"width: 900px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/SelfieFactoryTikkyTown.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-71724 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solopress.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/SelfieFactoryTikkyTown.jpg\" alt=\"Selfie Factory and Tikky Town\" width=\"900\" height=\"674\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-71724\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Left: The Pink Supermarket is one of many spaces at Selfie Factory. If you\u2019re able to add some flourishes to your event or place of business you could reap the dual rewards of attracting more visitors and spreading the word online.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Get inspired to create your own photo ops<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If customers already take selfies around your location, look out for where it happens and see what you can do to enhance that space. Firstly, you might want to find ways to make their selfies more shareable. Maybe think about introducing striking spaces and brilliant backdrops to lure budding influencers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get it right, like Blanche Bakery in Cardiff, and they\u2019ll come flocking. Mirror sticker!<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many people prefer a mirror selfie to the handheld option, as it allows for a longer, and more flattering, focal length.
