Flood

A flood refers to the application of ink or varnish covering an entire printed page or sheet, not to be confused with spot treatments which only cover specific areas.

Flooding can be used to provide a uniform colour across the entire substrate or to apply a protective coating to enhance the durability and aesthetic appeal of the final printed product.

The term can also be used to describe a technique of applying a large amount of ink to a plate during printing.
