Poster Printing

The thickest paper stock we offer for our poster prints is 350gsm, available on our A4 and A3 sizes. For all other larger sizes, the maximum thickness is 130gsm.

Yes, you can print a maximum of 15 different poster artworks within the same order. Simply enter the product page and click the field marked VERSIONS (NUMBER OF SETS). Then select the number of separate artworks you wish to submit.

Gloss posters have a shiny finish, which gives any colours displayed an extra vibrancy. This makes them more durable and suitable for posters that are used for long-term promotions. Bond Posters are printed on an uncoated paper stock and have a more textured finish.

While we don’t offer specifically waterproof or laminated poster printing at the moment, our customer service team can quote for encapsulated posters.

These are laminated in a plastic wrap with a 5mm overhang, similar to that from an office laminator. This makes the poster weatherproof for a period of time and means that it can be displayed outside.

We also offer Snap Frames. You can secure your poster in them and behind a weather-resistant plastic screen, which will protect them against rain.

While if you are looking for other print items that can withstand the elements, our Waterproof Menus are perfect for displaying at outdoor cafe, restaurant and bar tables.

Backlit Posters are printed on 200gsm light box film and are displayed in a light box frame. This frame is powered from electrical mains and uses illuminated LED bulbs to shine light evenly through the poster, helping it to stand out.

There’s no one type of paper that’s best for poster printing, as the different types we use have unique benefits for displays.

• Gloss paper can have striking results, as colours stand out better and the shiny finish adds a premium appearance. However, glare from strong light sources can compromise your message, especially in outdoor locations.
• Silk paper is a practical and popular choice for poster printing. It adds a mild sheen so that the finish is not entirely matt but overcomes much of the glare that can come with gloss.
• Bond paper is a matt alternative which eliminates glare.
• Day Glo paper is perfect for displaying outdoors. Plus, they’re effective when promoting events. The simple use of black text to communicate date, time and place will give your audience all the info they need to attend.

In terms of paper thickness, industry-standard paper weights for posters sized A2 and larger are:

• 130gsm for gloss or silk
• 110gsm for bond
• 100gsm for Day Glo

On A3 and A4, we can offer up to 350gsm paper thickness. On smaller posters like these, brown kraft or pulp papers can offer a textured alternative, for when the poster is designed to be encountered up close.

Light box posters must be printed on the appropriate light box film, as specified by the light box manufacturer.

First, let’s look at what those dimensions are for poster sizes:

With those sizes in mind, it’s worth considering where the poster will be displayed. That will have a bearing on its size, as well as how large your images and text need to be.

• Indoor notice boards – A4 or A3 posters are usually large enough to catch the eye of passers-by. Any larger, and it may take up too much space.
• In-store posters – A2 is a good middle ground for a poster that’s effective indoors, but large enough to have an impact in larger spaces.
• Window displays – many retailers, restaurants, cafes and bars use 60 inches x 40 inches as standard, as it can fill a window space with a bold design.
• Outdoor advertising – A1 and A0 sizes are typically used. On advertising hoardings, displays are usually made up of a composite of several 20 inch x 30 inch posters. For example, a 48-sheet hoarding would feature 48 20 inch x 30 inch sheets.

IThat depends on what you’re using your poster for.

If you’re printing posters for marketing purposes, such as advertising a sale or new product, then think about where they will be seen by the most people.

Perhaps place them in an outdoor A-Board, to catch the eye of people walking into your restaurant, café or bar. The poster can be clipped into place and held within a sturdy, weatherproof steel frame. Plus, you can easily update and replace them with newer posters, whenever you need.

For window displays, poster panels can provide a surface where posters can be stapled in place. While when posting smaller-sized prints on bulletin boards, you can use drawing pins. Remember, eye-level is always the optimum height for these types of poster displays.

Paste is still used to apply posters to billboards and other likely outdoor surfaces but be sure not to fall foul of fly-posting laws.

If you’re printing them to re-sell as part of your own merchandise, you might sell them in tubes and never have to worry about displaying them at all. If it’s a short run of arty prints, you might even wish to frame them.
