Blanket Cylinder

The blanket cylinder is a central component in the operation of an offset printing press.

It's a roller covered with a rubber "blanket", which receives the inked image from the plate cylinder and then transfers it onto the substrate (usually paper).

This intermediate step allows for smoother ink distribution, accommodating minor irregularities in the substrate, and helps maintain image quality across multiple impressions.
